Lots and Lots of Updates
Oops, it's been a while since we've updated this! So much has happened since our record came out and we've been busy busy busy.
First off, we have two amazing shows coming up with our pals Silversun Pickups at The Fillmore (SF) and The Wiltern (LA)... both SOLD OUT!
We recently shot a music video for Nick Zinner's (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) remix of our song 'Souvenirs'. We don't want to give away too much, but it is RAD. Let's just say there's a "bicycle boogie" involved and leave it at that.
Here's a big first for us... we have not one but TWO songs in the action flick Shoot 'Em Up!

Other Midnight Movies sightings: Peter, Bjorn, and John asked our lovely Gena to sing the part in 'Young Folks' in LA and SD last month (YouTube clip). Last week, Sandra played drums with The Raveonettes at Detour Fest.
Much more coming soon... xo

Genocide
We will be playing a benefit show at the Avalon on Sunday, September 17th at 8 p.m. for an organization called Twenty Women For Darfur. The event is $30. A lot for a show, but the money will go very far and do a lot of good for people that need the help badly.
"This is an international crisis, the first time the US has officially declared a genocide to be taking place, and there aren't enough resources to support the need for aid right now. Hundreds of thousands have been slaughtered and many more wounded and tortured over the past few years; for every 35 people in need, there are only 20 hospital beds. The proceeds from the concert go toward the International Rescue Committee and can help A LOT -- more than you might think."
Visit http://www.twentywomenfordarfur.org to learn more.
Genocide - the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.
Come out and help us celebrate the hope for peace!

June 3, 2006Seven Centimeters
We've been away from you people for way too long. Itching to emerge from our cave, we anticipate the upcoming months. Shows are finally just around the corner. We've missed you all so much.
This past year has been full of changes... some hard but necessary, some unexpected, but all worth it. Some of you may already be aware of our line up change and our two new band-mates. You may also know Jason is no longer in the band. He is now starting a new project, stay tuned for info on that. We signed with a new label and wrote and recorded our new record. So we're now in the third trimester of our second child and we're very excited to get this baby out!
Check out our new Myspace page and check in soon for show details.

So we returned back home a couple weeks ago and since then we've been getting back into the swing of things with practice and whatnot. We are currently picking which songs off the first record to add into the set. Send us a message on our Myspace page to let us know which old songs you want to hear at our next first show.

So it's official. NewLine Records will be putting out the new record. We're very excited to finally record in January. With 95% of the album written, we'll be wrapping up the loose ends and production details with the rest of the year. Most likely not out live until Feb. (Perhaps maybe a secret show or two before then...)

September 28, 2005Life On MarsI heard some of you still went out to MOCA expecting an MM show. Well sorry, we tried to warn you. However, I'm sure the exhibit made up for any disappointment.
We just recorded a cover of Bowie's, Life On Mars at Clear Lake Audio a couple weeks ago. Our good friend JD Andrew produced and mixed it for us. Good man. It's possible that we'll have video from that on our site in the not too distant future.
-
September 6, 2005NoMocaShow
Despite rumors and write-ups we are not playing the Basquiat exhibit at MOCA on September 17th. Unfortunately due to the recent changes in the band and the current state of things, we just couldn't do it. BUT, you really should go anyway. They are screening the new David LaChapelle film, "Rize," and we hear this Basquiat guy's pretty good too...
In other news we are working on a new website and preparing to record this record! Stay tuned...

August 18, 2005Long time...Hello all. There have been many changes in the land of Midnight Movies... new music, new members, new video... We're getting all things together to record and tour the second record.
